There is a dotted quarter note (ta) in this lesson, which is like a ta and a ti connected together (worth 1 1/2 beats).
This lesson has a new note which is a little tricky for Flutes, a C. You play it with almost no fingers on the flute, so balance is important to playing this one correctly. Try putting the mouthpiece of your flute on your left shoulder and practice switching between C & D repeatedly to figure this note out. |
In this lesson, there is a new note. In "Ground Floor" there are big note jumps at the start of the song.
In "Simpler Times" we have a 3/4 song, which means there are 3 beats in each bar. This changes the style of the song dramatically. We also have a "D.C. al Fine" which is an Italian phrase we use in music. When you see that in the music, it means go back to the start (Del Capo) and play to the "Fine" mark which is where the end will be. This means we play the first line 2X (see the repeat signs), then play the 2nd and 3rd line. When you get to the end of the music, you go back to the start and play the first line again, ending at the "Fine" mark. |
